Like any other relationship, the therapy relationship is rooted in connection and is a bond characterized by safety and trust.  This alliance is the secure base from which you can take the emotional risks  - including the vulnerability inherent in deep exploration -  needed for meaningful and enduring change.  The bond we form allows our meetings to be based on support, respect, and even a healthy dose of humor.

A licensed psychologist in private practice with experience in trauma, PTSD, and dissociative disorders; stress management; and career counseling and coaching, I have 20+ years of experience in clinical work, supervision, higher education teaching and outreach.  I earned my Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Counseling Psychology at the University of Maryland College Park, and completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Towson University Counseling Center.

I began private practice work with Christine Courtois and Associates, PC, specializing in helping clients work through complex trauma, PTSD, dissociation (including Dissociative Identity Disorder), and childhood sexual abuse.

Prior to joining the Courtois group, I served for seven years as Assistant Director of Mental Health Counseling at Howard Community College’s (HCC) Counseling and Career Services Office.  There I provided individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, and campus outreach programming to students; career counseling and job search services to county residents and students and professional development to faculty and staff. I also directed the master’s and doctoral level counseling training program at HCC and provided clinical supervision to interns.

In addition to private practice work, I am an adjunct faculty member in the University of Maryland’s Counseling Psychology doctoral program where I regularly provide clinical supervision to doctoral students and sometimes teach undergraduate courses in psychology.
